Phosphorous acid (CAS no.: 10294 - 56 - a)
Properties:
a) Appearance: colorless or light yellow crystals
b) Specific gravity: 1.651
c) Melting point: 73.6oC
d) Boiling point: 200oC
e) Soluble in water, easily soluble in alcohol
f) Stability:
1) Will gradually oxidize to phosphoric acid
2) When heated to over 180oC, it will decompose to phosphoric
acid and hydrogen phosphate
